A little about me: I moved from Taiwan to Hamilton, New Zealand, with my family when I was 11 years old. I attended Berkley Intermediate and Hillcrest High School before spending four years at the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine. Ironically, growing up, I believed Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was outdated—something for the elderly, full of bitter herbs with slow results. So why did I choose to study it? That’s another story. Even during my studies, my focus was on getting A’s and graduating, not truly understanding the profound wisdom behind this ancient medicine. I was young, unaware, and lacked the capacity to grasp its depth. When I graduated, I knew the points, meridians, herbs, and techniques. I had completed hundreds of clinical hours. But despite all that knowledge, I felt lost—because TCM isn’t just about memorization; it’s about seeing, feeling, and understanding the intricate connections within the body, mind, and spirit. My real journey began after graduation, when I started to experience and witness the true power of this medicine in ways I never imagined.

Now, after years of learning from masters and teachers, exploring different techniques and treatment methods, treating countless incredible patients, and experiencing life’s lessons, travel, and endless reading, I’ve come to a daring conclusion—modern science, despite its remarkable contributions to our evolution, has only begun to scratch the surface of the vast ocean that is Traditional Chinese Medicine. The more I learn, the more I am in awe of the wisdom of our ancestors, who understood the body’s intricate connections long before science had the tools to explain them. TCM is not just an ancient practice; it is a living, breathing system of healing, one that continues to reveal its depth and brilliance with every patient, every treatment, and every new discovery.

Amy can speak both English and Mandarin fluently.
